Overview
Standardizing course regulations and certificate settings ensures accurate tracking of metrics like graduation and dropout rates by certification. This article explains how to audit and configure courses.
Why It Matters
Vague settings like “Other” muddle data, obscuring performance by certification. Clear course settings provide insights into progress and program effectiveness, optimizing operations.
Auditing Course Settings
Access Course Settings: Go to Settings > Training Hub > Courses.
Course Setup. Basic course details are displayed the top of the Course Setup page. To modify these settings, click the edit icon
from the course details box
Review Each Course:
Regulation: Set appropriate regulation (e.g., “Part 141” or “Part 61”) for certificated (or endorsement) courses (e.g., Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial Multi, etc). Choose “Other” for courses that are outside of pilot flight and ground training.
Certificate/Rating Earned: Choose a specific certificate(s)/rating(s) (e.g., Private Pilot) or “Other” for endorsement courses (e.g., tailwheel, high performance, etc) or courses with “Other” for the regulation
Common “Other” Courses: Identify courses that should be used with “Other” regulation and certificate:
Checkride tracking
Remedial training
Transfer student primer
Endorsements (e.g., high performance, tailwheel) typically with Regulation set to “Part 61” (or “Part 141” if approved Part 141 course).
Orientations
Non-certificated ground training
Internal employee training
Other training (e.g., A&P, refresher)
