Students, instructors, and administrators can view a student’s training hours and other course detail by navigating to the student’s course overview page.
Step by Step
To view training hours and other detail related to a student’s course, complete these steps:
- Navigate to the student’s Course Overview in one of the following ways:

Click the View button for a course on the Students page.

Click the View button for a course on a student’s Course Enrollments page.

Click the View button for a course on a student’s My Training page.

- Basic course detail is available at the top of the page. This includes student and instructor information, enrollment status, expected graduation date, high-level progress indicators, and the next expected lesson. The number of lessons expected to be completed each week is displayed only if a progress profile was included in the student’s course enrollment. See Set Up Progress Profiles for more information about setting up progress profiles.
- Note: The next expected lesson is the earliest unlogged, incomplete, or failed lesson in the course. Click the lesson name to view the Lesson Overview.
- If at least one training session that has been logged for the course requires action, then a Needs Attention banner is displayed. The number of sessions that require action is displayed. Hover over the session number to view a list of sessions that require action to be taken. To complete the required action, click the session number in the Needs Attention banner. A list of sessions is displayed.
- Note: A session might require action if it has been saved as a draft or if an instructor or student PIN is still needed.
- If a progress profile was included in the student’s course enrollment, then a progress profile banner is displayed. The number of lessons ahead or behind is displayed. The number of hours ahead or behind for each Course Minimum that was included in the progress profile is displayed. See Set Up Progress Profiles for more information about setting up progress profiles.
- To view training time logged for the course, scroll down to the Overview tab, which is selected by default. A list of course minimums and additional logged training time is displayed. (Note: Only training time logged for the course you are viewing is displayed. Time logged for other courses is not included.) The following information is displayed for each logged hour type:
- The previous training credits added for the course. See Edit previous training credits for more information about adding previous training time.
- The sum of time logged across all sessions in the course
- The sum of previous training credits and session time
- The defined minimum for the course is displayed for course minimums. See Set Up Training Courses for more information about course minimums.
- To view detail about logged training sessions for the course, click the Sessions tab. See View Student Training Sessions for more information.
- To view detail about lesson progress for the course, click the Lessons tab. See View Student Lesson Progress for more information.
- To view a timeline of events starting from the student’s first logged session, click the Timeline tab. See View Student Progress Timeline for more information.
- Note: The Timeline tab is available only if a progress profile was included in the student’s course enrollment.
- To view exams that have been logged for the course, click the Exams tab. See View and Log Student Exams for more information.
- Note: The Exams tab is available only if at least one exam is available to log for the course. See Set Up Training Courses for more information.
- To view course documents, click the Documents tab. See View Course Documents for more information.
- Note: The Documents tab is available only if at least one document has been added for the course.
Several additional actions can be taken for the student from within the Course Overview page.
- To view the student’s enrollment details, click Actions at the top of the page and select View Enrollment. Enrollment information is displayed. An Edit button is available to make changes to the enrollment, such as graduating the student.
- To add credit for previously completed training that should be counted toward the course, click Actions and select Edit Previous Training. See Edit student previous training credits for more information.
- To recommend the student for graduation, click Actions and select Recommend Graduation. See Recommend a student for graduation for more information.
- To access high-level detail about the course, click Course Info.
- To log a new training session, click Log Session. See Log student training sessions for more information.
- To create a new reservation for the student, click Log Session and select either New Reservation or Find a Time.
- Note: If you don’s have the permission to log sessions, then you will see a New Reservation button instead of a Log Session button.
Permission Needed
- A student’s course overview can be accessed only by the following users:
- The student
- The student’s instructors for the course
- Users with the permission View All Student Enrollments
- A student’s enrollment detail can be accessed only by users with the permission View All Student Enrollments. These details can be edited only by users with the permission Manage All Student Enrollments.
- Previous training credits can be applied only by users with the permission Add Previous Training to Student Enrollments.
- Students can be recommend for graduation only by the following users:
- The student’s instructors for the course
- Users with the permission Manage All Student Enrollments
- Training sessions can be logged only by the following users:
- The student’s instructors for the course
- Users with the permission Log All Student Sessions
