View and Manage Predictive Aircraft Maintenance

A Time to Next Service report allows you to view the amount of availability remaining for an aircraft until its next expected maintenance reminder, and shows you how upcoming reservation time will affect maintenance.

Step By Step

To set up predictive maintenance for your aircraft, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Settings and click Aircraft. A list aircraft settings options is displayed.
   
2. Click Edit for the Aircraft Predictive Maintenance Calculator option. An Aircraft Predictive Maintenance Calculator view is displayed.
   
3. In the Default Maintenance Meter Time per Actual Flight Hour field, enter the average amount of maintenance time that is typically affected by one hour of scheduled flight time. If, on average, one hour of flight time results in 0.6 hours of Tach time, then enter 0.6.
   • Note: The entered average will apply to all aircraft in your fleet.

To see a visual representation of predictive maintenance, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Reports page and select Time to Next Service in the Aircraft section. The Time to Next Service report is displayed. A list of your aircraft is displayed, along with availability and maintenance indicators.
   
   
   • Alternatively, you can access the report by navigating to the Assign a Tail view, clicking View Reports and selecting Time to Next Service.
     
2. To understand an aircraft‘s availability, view the color-coded bar associated with that aircraft. 
   • A dark blue bar indicates that the aircraft is currently available and the bar spans until the next expected maintenance reminder. Example: If an aircraft has a 500-hour inspection reminder and it hasn't been flown since it got out of the hangar, then the blue bar would span to 500.
   • A light blue bar indicates the amount of time scheduled flight time that affects the aircraft's maintenance meter. Example: The aircraft is scheduled for 5 hours of flight time. A value of 0.6 was entered for the Default Maintenance Meter Time per Actual Flight Hour. Therefore, 3 hours of the 5 scheduled hours will affect the maintenance meter, so the bar spans 3.
     • Note: Scheduled Hours Affecting Maintenance is only available if Hours Remaining is selected in the filter.
   • An orange bar indicates that the aircraft is currently in maintenance.
3. Hover over a bar for an available aircraft. The amount of time left until the next expected maintenance is displayed, along with the amount of scheduled time that affects maintenance.
   
   
   

Scheduled Flight Time Explanation

Some reservations, such as multi-day rentals, are longer than the amount of time that the aircraft will actually fly. To account for these scenarios, scheduled flight time for predictive maintenance is handled in the following manner: 

• • If Est. Flight Hours is valued on a reservation, then that entered time is used as the scheduled flight time. (See Set Up Activity Types for more information about enabling the Est. Flight Hours for a reservation.)
  • If Est. Flight Hours is not valued or is not available for a reservation, then the total scheduled time minus Instructor-only time is used as the scheduled flight time.

Permission Needed

• You must have the permission Manage Company Settings in order to enter access and manage aircraft settings.
• You must have the permission View Aircraft Reports in order to access the Time to Next Service report.
